Narrative
Helen embarks on a passionate romance with a man who has no idea what her secret identity is. Helen’s employer, caught in the crosshairs when her lover falls victim to London’s dangerous underworld, calls on Sam to protect her.
It starts off really well
Graham Norton stars: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024). It’s one of those run-of-the-mill entertainments where you can’t really fault the acting and the production values are almost flawless.
But John Le Carre isn’t
You think you’re going to be sucked in and seduced by a complex spy thriller. Instead, you soon realise it’s neither serious nor funny.
As is often the case these days, the problem is the lack of story
It has quirky characters, and indeed characters with all the charm and conversation one would expect from psychopaths. They might be related to Eve from Killing Eve, but these are poor cousins and don’t match up very well on the psychopath DNA inheritance scale.
Unfortunately, it’s a disappointment, it could have been really good
It’s a comic book caricature of a spy thriller, with a plot that relies on a thin plot and frequent action scenes to fill the space. No need to waste time scrolling endlessly – here’s a whole bunch of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
